Pikachu -- Raichu

Mornin'
There seem to be a lot of these single evolution pokemon kicking around lately. Anyways, yesterday instead of having a life I just drew pictures and rode my bike. Win? Yes, maybe? Nothing will match Wednesday's Horizon ride though... crazy rainstorm! Just about managed to skirt it, but riding through it was pretty fun. So here are the Pikachu and Raichu pokedresses. I see Pikachu as a very cute and energetic pokemon, so didn't make a quote-unquote 'glamorous' dress for it. I tried to take out the cliche that comes with Pikachu, as a result I didn't stay 100% true to it's color scheme. Bright yellow is a little hard to work with. Also, I don't have a note for it, but the gold polka-dots are little sequins on the bottom part of the dress. And the shoes just have a print of a lightning storm on it. I suppose throughout the dress I took a little bit of sunset inspiration. I've been riding my bike at dusk lately, so no wonder. But riding around in the prairies has given me a bit of inspiration for the next series of dresses I do! (if I decide to keep going after finishing the Pokedresses)... Raichu I decided to make a bit more elegant, just to fit in with the whole evolution thing. I tried to stay true to electrical elements, and think that the bracelets look like electric coils? Yes, maybe? Anyways, I think they look kind of cool. I used the whole mermaid thing at the bottom of the dress. Again... but I'm mostly happy with how I drew the model. Believe it or not, that's probably what takes the most time for every dress. I kind of shorten the body and lengthen the legs so that it looks normal in my journal, and sometimes that's hard to deal with. This chick only took me about 5 minutes though!

I suppose I should say thank you to all my friends for the positive feedback! It really does mean a lot to me. I've got a couple people on my DeviantArt account (Username 29CentPens, if you feel like checking it out) saying that they would spend a lot of money for one of these, so I should probably learn how to sew ($$$Goldmine!!). Anyways, hi-ho hi-ho it's off to work I go... two jobs today. Good ol' research job til noon and then working the first Huskie's football game til midnight. I get to help set up and take down the inflatables, which doesn't sound super fun but I promise it would be entertaining to come watch as they are really heavy and I have really really weak arms. Also, Swiss Army Boyfriend is my supervisor... so I guess we'll see how that turns out.

Ciao!

  1. These are both fantastic as well! Raichu is absolutely flawless, and Pikachu is super cute. I am excited to see the Oddish evolution line (if you choose to go that far).

  3. Girl, you are totally RAD!!! Just went through all your designs and there isn't a single one that isn't spot-on. :)

As far as sewing, you could always try to partner with a seamstress while you learn, then split the profits; I'm a graphic designer that partnered with a PR person because I'm not a particularly interested in writing. (Also, I made my start in chemistry in college and almost graduated before switching gears to do design. You can do it, if you really want! :) )

  4. Are you okay with someone making one of these dresses? Cause I think I'm in love with your Raichu.
